Santanyí was founded in 1300 by James II, King of Mallorca, but we know that its history dates back to prehistoric times thanks to the discovery of over 150 archaeological sites. Although Santanyí has adapted to changing times, it has kept its tradition and folklore alive and become one of the most enchanting towns with a flourishing crafts sector in the southern part of the island.

Can Ferrereta lies next to the walled enclosure of Santanyí, which was built to prevent constant attacks by pirates. Its closeness to the bell tower and the Norfolk pine standing in its interior courtyard ensure this mansion’s place in iconic panoramic views of the town.

RESTORATION

A 17TH-CENTURY MALLORCAN MANSION

Painstaking restoration work has been performed to maintain this mansion’s character and history. We can see original architectural elements in several rooms: vaults, arches, wooden beams, stone ceilings and the pas d’ase that has been preserved in reception, dry stone terraces and the reproduction of a shepherd’s home in the main garden.
